I am a social innovator. I research social challenges, ask lots of questions and develop, test and refine solutions. I specialise in collaborative design with communities and am passionate about creating conditions for equity in systems, services and communities.
My practice in this area includes: co-design, co-production, complex project management & contracting, stakeholder and partnership development and management, systems thinker, capability building and coaching.
I am a white Australian woman with European heritage on a journey toward cultural competency and allyship to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and First Nations people. I have been taught and trusted by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander colleagues, collaborators and friends to support social innovation in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander contexts.
Working for Junction, a social service provider in SA, my role is to create the conditions for lived experience advice, partnership, peer work and leadership. I facilitate the Lived Experience Community Advisory Team (LECAT), build the supports for our growing peer workforce and guide our teams as we learn to involve our clients in our service improvement.
Previously at The Australian Centre for Social Innovation for seven years, my focus was service and policy co-design and consultation. I worked with state governments, not-for-profit services and philanthropists to help them partner better with minoritised communities and remove obstacles to community participation and leadership.
Developing my cultural competency and understanding of systemic conditions has been key to my ability to consult and collaborate with communities. For example working with young South Sudanese Australians who developed mental health initiatives in a COVID lockdown, and consulting culturally and linguistically diverse, LGBTIQ+ and disability communities in Victoria to share what they want from government mental health policy.
Previously, I worked for three years as the industrial designer at lighting start-up, Pixalux, where I built foundational project management, prototyping and creative skills
I was born in Sydney and have lived in Singapore, Melbourne, Kiama and now on Kaurna Yerta (Adelaide). I love hiking, beach swims and finding the best ramen spots.
